About the book

Cecil Von Wittershaw is a humorous, character-driven illustrated novel that follows an eccentric and fussy art connoisseur, Cecil, who becomes unwittingly embroiled in a grand mystery. Cecil’s life revolves around perfection—his appearance, his art collection, and his carefully curated world. But when a mysterious letter delivered by an impeccably dressed stranger invites him to Cairo for an art exhibit of unimaginable significance, Cecil’s neatly ordered life is about to unravel.

Cecil Von Wittershaw's journey begins in his perfectly curated London apartment, a shrine to order and aesthetic harmony. His world is suddenly disrupted when a sharply dressed stranger appears at his door, handing him a letter. The letter, written on ancient papyrus, is elegant and cryptic. It invites him to Cairo for an art exhibit, though it hints at something far greater—a treasure said to possess the power to elevate the world’s sense of beauty forever.

Cecil Von Wittershaw is a man who believes that beauty is the highest pursuit—beauty in art, in fashion, and in life. But through the chaotic adventure he embarks on, Cecil comes to realize that true beauty is found in the imperfect, the unexpected, and even the chaotic.

Act 1: The Arrival

Cecil arrives at Cairo Airport and is greeted by a host of overly enthusiastic camels and an ancient taxi driver who claims to be 140 years old. He attempts to use an outdated, upside-down map to find his hotel, starting his journey in a series of lighthearted missteps.

Act 2: The Mystery of the Golden Serpentine

Cecil meets Madame Leclerc, a dramatic retired opera singer, who hands him a cryptic note about the “Golden Serpentine”—a mythical artifact that supposedly grants eternal wit. Enthralled, Cecil embarks on a convoluted quest to uncover the truth behind the legend.

Act 3: The Journey Through Time

Cecil’s adventure spirals into increasingly surreal encounters—misguided camel rides, impromptu tea parties in tombs, and a frantic chase through a labyrinthine bazaar. Along the way, he is joined by an oddball crew: a mute felucca captain, Cleopatra the cat, and a dubious scholar named Doctor Hieronymus Squibbs.

The story plays with themes of order vs. disorder, the absurdity of control, and how sometimes the most beautiful things are the ones we least expect. It’s a cinematic, visually rich narrative that explores the humor and charm in life’s imperfections.

Cecil’s journey from London to Cairo is as much about self-discovery as it is about ancient treasures. Fans of dry humor, eccentric characters, and visually rich storytelling will be drawn into Cecil’s meticulously crafted world.

This is going be a humorous, absurd adventure

Act 4: Revelation at the Pyramid of Doubt

At the Pyramid of Doubt, Cecil experiences a kaleidoscopic confrontation with Egyptian gods who are less concerned with ancient mysteries and more with their social lives. The elusive Golden Serpentine turns out to be… well, not quite what Cecil expected.
